An Army spouse and mom of two teenagers, Laura recently relocated to the DMV after 10 years in Italy. When she isn’t coaching clients to prioritize fun and rest, she enjoys backpacking, tent camping, and chasing after a houseful of foster puppies and kittens.
Kiya Thompson, RN, BSN
With 20 years of nursing experience and the perspective of a local military spouse and mom of 2 medically complex children, Kiya understands the cost of constant self-sacrifice. As a Certified Travel Coach, she guides burned-out moms through intentional solo resets to help moms move from surviving to thriving and be fully present with their families.

The main themes of Mom Summer Camp will be rest, relaxation in nature, and outdoor play.

We keep it intimate - only 18 spots per session. Small enough to feel like community, big enough for new friendships.

Choose your adventure: Accommodation types include yurts, vintage trailers, tiny houses, cottages, an Aliner, and a tent lodge. Each type of accommodation is special and fun in its own unique way.

Yes. Pillows, sheets, and blankets will be provided. You will need to bring your own towel.

Approximately half of the accommodations have air conditioning. If you need AC because of a health condition, please indicate that in your registration. All other units have large screened windows so you can enjoy that river breeze.

You will only be assigned a bunk mate if you request shared lodging. All accommodations have enough beds to be shared, but sharing is not required.

There is one brand new centrally located bathhouse with four full bathrooms, each containing a shower, sink, and toilet. Bring a flashlight!

There is a brand new 30’ yurt that can comfortably accommodate all campers for yoga, Pilates, and workshops. There are also other covered spaces for protection from the rain, but don’t hesitate to pack those rain boots and bring an umbrella so we can still make the most of the outdoors! Alternatively, you might enjoy a nap or snuggling up with a good book.

Pretty remote. Please try to arrive before dark if you can. The last 15 minutes of driving are on a bumpy dirt road.

Kind of. In certain parts of the camp your cell phone will work. However, it will most likely not have service in your personal accommodation. For emergencies we will provide you with a number for a land line as well as the cell number of our camp host who will have a satellite phone.

Nope. And won’t that feel nice? Exhale and sign off….

The kind that can get dirty or wet or both! Also, it is best to dress in layers as mornings may be chilly while mid-day could be hot. We will send out a packing list prior to your session.

Yes! Among the many typical forest critters, bears, swans and raccoons have been spotted on the property.

Once campers are registered, we will create a private Facebook group so you can get to know each other and discuss things like carpooling, and whatever else comes up!
